Kortrijk Xpo shifts into a higher gear as a high-tech event venue
Kortrijk, 12 February 2024 – Kortrijk Xpo, the third-largest event venue in Belgium and part of Xpo Group, proudly announces that it has made significant investments to upgrade its network and audiovisual infrastructure. These investments were made possible in part thanks to the support of Tourism Flanders.
This investment covers multiple areas: the entire site’s Wi-Fi network has been upgraded, resulting in an increase in internet speed of more than 200%. At the same time, coverage has also been expanded. As a result, these high internet speeds can now be achieved on virtually every square meter of the site. This makes it possible to seamlessly support demanding internet applications, such as high-quality live streaming, for any event and at any location within the venue.
In addition, efforts were made to modernize the audiovisual infrastructure: several new LCD screens were installed, suitable both for displaying razor-sharp video content and for digital signage. Moreover, 4K cameras and video mixers were acquired, and investments were made in an additional conference system that enables more simultaneous hybrid meetings.
“These investments allow us to offer our clients even greater flexibility, regardless of the specific needs of their event, whether it concerns a small gathering or a large-scale event,” says Isabelle Callens, Director Venue Kortrijk Xpo. “By investing in these technologies, we strengthen our position as an international venue while also providing added value for our regional clients and events. Whether it is a general meeting of a local company where some participants cannot be physically present, or an international conference featuring a keynote speaker joining remotely, we can facilitate both at a high level of quality.”
With the support of Tourism Flanders
As the third-largest event venue in Belgium, Kortrijk Xpo hosts numerous international events. These represent a strong asset for the Kortrijk region and provide a boost to the local tourism sector.
Thanks to the support of Tourism Flanders, which provides half of the funding for this project, Kortrijk Xpo can continue to strengthen its international positioning.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a tremendous impact on the congress and events industry in Flanders,” says CEO Peter De Wilde of Tourism Flanders. “The traditional format of meetings, events and congresses came under pressure, and the requirements to remain competitive at an international level have changed significantly in a short period of time. With this investment, Kortrijk Xpo ensures it remains digitally state-of-the-art and can continue to differentiate itself in an innovative way.”
The works were completed at the end of last year: the new infrastructure can be deployed immediately for all types of events in 2025.

About Kortrijk Xpo & Xpo Group
Kortrijk Xpo offers up to 40,000 m² of space for congresses, trade fairs, meetings, and events. The venue features multiple halls and rooms, which can be flexibly configured to meet the specific needs of each event.
Kortrijk Xpo is part of Xpo Group and was founded in 1967 with the mission of operating the then newly built exhibition hall (currently Hall 1, also known as the “Decoene Hall”). After several years focused exclusively on venue management, a dedicated division for organizing (trade) fairs was quickly established. Supported by the development of this exhibition portfolio, a strong occupancy rate of the halls was achieved. Five decades later, in addition to organizing events at its home base, Xpo Group also organizes trade fairs across Europe and has built a portfolio of more than 40 titles spanning various sectors such as architecture, food, manufacturing, and other niche markets. Over the years, the Kortrijk site has grown significantly and now covers 40,000 square meters, making it the third-largest venue in Belgium. The company generates a consolidated annual revenue of approximately €50 million and employs around 130 staff members. Xpo Group’s mission, “Creating meaningful connections,” reflects its ambition to connect people, businesses, and communities in the best possible way.
